Five Food Challenges for 2006

It was not related to snow after all, but we lost our adsl connection for the last couple of days. Finally the technician has restored it this afternoon and I am able to answer dear Paz whom I neglected for a while. She tagged me with "The Five Food Challenges for 2006" memé. Thank you Paz and my apologies for the delay, along with another snowy picture: olive tree this time.
  1. I want to prepare decent macaroons this year. Considering that I have never tried to cook them before, it is big challenge for me. Here you can see some decent ones...very pretty.
2.I am preparing our daily bread and sometimes more fancy recipes but want to try to make ciabatta this year. A decent one...again...

3. I want to use some well known tropic fruits in my kitchen; like carambole, lychee and papaya. I have never used them before.

4. Collecting traditional recipes from my family is a hobby of mine. I want to make more contributions on this field. The Balkans have a real treasure of tastes, smells and recipes and I do not want any of them to be lost in time.

5. As a person who has problem eating seafood outside, I want to try making vegetarien sushi at home, at least once. They are called "california sushi" if I am not mistaken. A little avocado, carrots, celery and cucumber drizzled with wasabi will be my ingredients.
The answers were sincere but being against so called "new year resolutions"; I will not put myself under pressure to make all the above, neither you, Zinnur of "Our Patisserie" and Nilay of "La Cocina de Nilay", do not feel obliged to answer my tagging right away, take your time.

Thanks in advance.
